Over the last few years technology has evolved and changed rampantly in every sector. The Role of technology has become predominant and its impact will be felt much more comprehensively in the field of education. Technology has become an integral part of lives and life without technology is unimaginable. There are mixed opinions on the utilization of technology in teaching and learning as this was not the usual way of teaching and learning.
However, the flexibility and exposure being provided by the technology cannot be denied. Technology enabled learning can not only bring in transformational change in online education experience, it can also enhance and support regular classroom-based pedagogies. It could offer more flexibility and learning support than the conventional way of teaching and learning. Technology offers teachers the opportunity to become more collaborative and take learning beyond classrooms. Technology is penetrating in the early graders’ classroom and providing a new experience of learning to the students like there is a parallel classroom running.
Many tech giants are investing and promoting the tech innovations every day with something new and interesting. Everyone is in the race of inventing the right solution for education and how the technology can provide assistance in that. Many private institutions use technology for pre-primary or primary classes. The New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was announced some time ago. It suggests certain changes from the earlier policy introduced 34 years ago, and envisages major reforms in the education system. It focusses a great deal on technology use and integration. In the light of Covid-19, the need of social distancing will continue to affect traditional learning processes for quite some time.
A “new normal” in education might emerge which will possibly have a lasting influence on pedagogy and assessment. The reaction to the problem might bring major changes in the coming time as people have started believing the importance and power of technology in all the areas including education. As technology is bringing gamification in learning through interactive games which are liked by the children thus teaching is also swiftly transitioning towards the same. A few popular applications which could be used for making learning fun for younger children are as follows:
Pictoword A simple and very interactive word game where the child "reads" a series of pictures that combine to create a word. This application could be used to enhance the vocabulary in a fun way. |
Kutuki India's first early learning platform tailor-made for Indian preschoolers. And Kutu, Ki and Minku, the elephant is here to be your little one's learning companions. It has interesting story-based videos for children which can easily be navigated |
Think: It is an application which provides an opportunity to young minds to expose themselves in front of a problem and develops an ability to overcome the same. It's a puzzle game and develops vocabulary. |
Fish School: It exposes the preschooler to important concepts like letters, numbers, shapes, colours, matching, and more. Brightly coloured schools of fish form letters, shapes, and the numbers 1–20, and the child can make the fish swim and do funny things with a simple touch and drag. |
