Role of Technology in Education

In the 21st century, there is always a crucial role of technology in education. At present, Technology is on an evolving stage in terms of education and other areas. Challenges related to the field of education can be overcome with the help of technology in education such as students drop out, motivation, discipline, critical thinking, creativity, logical reasoning. Technology can be a tool that encourages children to read and helps to enhance their learning ability. If we talk about inside the classroom, then technology can be anything, a white board, a mobile phone, tablets, internet or if we say social media could also be included in the technology which helps in teaching and also in studying.

No matter how young or old the child is, technology always attracts children of all ages. The more technology used in the classroom the more students will be engaged. If we talk about the technology inside the classroom teachers have always had it in the classroom. Let us see how technology has changed in the classroom over the time; In a normal classroom, there was a black board, chalk, mat or desk where the teacher used to stand on one side of the board and provide information to all the students of the class. Students had books of all subjects and had separate notebooks where they would note all the important points mentioned in the classroom. As the technology evolves a certain change can be seen in the classroom instead of black board, now teachers provide information to all students on the e-board i.e. smart board, chalk has now been replaced by stylus where the teacher can show different information with one click. Technology can never take the place of books however now teachers attract the attention of students by showing innovative materials to children on tablets, computers and projectors. Technology has overcome the lack of resources that teachers have to a large extent.

Over the years, teachers have been creating lesson plans into a notebook or highlighting important points on pages of books with different colours. Now the technology involved in teaching so much teachers can now plan their lesson in a better way and can change and save it according to their time for the longer time. Also, the students have tablets or computers to read, learn and repeat the concept after the school time without the presence of a teacher. New applications and websites have been introduced for students where innovative content has been provided to them to learn independently. With the help of technology education is not limited to the school or even colleges anymore. Now from the school, college and distance education it is now E-education where education can be provided online and virtually.

Innovation in The Technology

  • Enriching Teaching with Technology

Technology has contributed a lot in the field of education in this pandemic. Since March, students were not able to go to school, due to which their education has been greatly affected, but through technology this barrier was tackled and the teacher started teaching children online. When the teachers used to give the important information in the school students noted in the notebook, now the teachers are providing the information to the children through different networking websites or applications, especially through WhatsApp. Interaction between children and teachers was possible only in the school, but now it has become possible through virtually.

  • Mobile Based Learning

As time is passing, mobile based learning is being promoted in the education field where students get a chapter according to their syllabus and they can cover it on the mobile and get information about the concept. It helps to break the rote learning and students can make the notes in the mobile phone itself. Exciting content such as content videos, experimental videos, PDFs, etc are available in the mobile based application.

  • Interactive Classroom

Interactive classrooms allow the students to share information easily and also work together as an integral part of the learning process. It provides the opportunities to replace the books, and improve the communication skills of students. In addition, establishing the use of interactive technology in the classroom can help to address a variety of learning styles, ensuring the learning process matches the changing individual needs of the studentInteractive learning has a major role to play in differentiation and they are extremely useful to classes of various abilities.
