Children are the most valuable resources and schools are the building block of human resources. An ideal school should encourage the students to learn as well as apply what they read in textbooks in real life.
These resources include planners, administrators, teachers, mentors, managers, and support staff. Here, we focus on teachers as one of the critical aspects of human resource commitment. Study after study shows that quality teaching is the most powerful factor in student learning. An ideal school must have to fulfill certain minimum and basic physical resources in school. In the absence of them, it affects the quality of education and efficiency of the teacher and the students.
The site of the school should be away from the area where it is thickly populated. It should preferably have a peaceful and natural environment ideal for teaching-learning activity. A School building is the learning center of an educational institution. The school building can create the necessary motivation in the mind of the students for their learning and doing. With the increasing need and function of education, a school building needs to provide a variety of rooms in order to facilitate learning and teaching. They include an art and craft room, music room, store and supply room, museum, auditorium.
In the school building, the classroom is like a workshop for the student’s future. “Destiny of the nation is shaped in its classroom,” says Kothari Commission. The classroom acts as an experimental laboratory for learning and teaching. A modern classroom should be well equipped in order to serve the growing need for education. It should be furnished in a way that it may create genuine curiosity, interest, and motive of the learner. The classroom should be able to accommodate 50 students. It should be spacious so that the teacher may move about easily to every student. There should be a provision for good light, fan, and ventilation in the classroom. There should be a blackboard with big in size at the front wall for the effective use of the teacher.
These days every parent and student gives more importance to the physical resources in school. But, in certain places, there is a general lack of awareness among the people and the school organizers on the aspect of physical resources in school. This can be well reflected in the rural schools where the material condition is pitiably poor.
