Learning styles are very important for teachers. We must understand that each student learns differently. Some students work best in small groups, while some learn best individually some are visual learners, while others may be verbal musical, or kinesthetic learners.

Teachers must recognize every student's unique learning style. Next, we must accommodate differences among students by various instructional methods. So that every student can learn, however they learn best. Teachers must understand their students developing stages, including emotional, physical, social, and cognitive stages. Teachers must be able to recognize how children develop and can use that knowledge to provide appropriate learning opportunities to support a child's development. Diversity is very important in schools especially utilizing the "TOSSED SALAD ", metaphor. When you have students as young as the pre-school age, who are new to the country and don't even necessarily know the language. It is important to keep them mixed with the classroom for most of the activities.

TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR PRESCHOOLERS

1. LOGO/SYMBOL LABELLING: One way to promote everyday vocabulary is by having students verbally label common brands and symbols
2. SOUND RECOGNITION AND MATCHING: This activity will require a few large letters cut out of cardboard and several small but not too small objects nearby that begin with those letters. FOR EXAMPLE, if your letters are 'B' and 'F', you might have a pile of buttons and features. Start by having the child say the sound that the letter makes. Then encourage the child to find an object beginning with the same sound and paste it to the letter and so on ...
3. SWITCH OUT ACTIVITIES: Children tend to have short attention spans, so scheduling long lessons are out of the question. To help children stay focused try changing out activities
4.START A GARDEN: This can be an excellent way to teach kids about the natural world, this promotes child's fine motor skills
5.ESTABLISH RULES: This is a great strategy for keeping a calm classroom. Post the rules in a common area so that children can see them every day and be reminded of what's good and bad behavior
