Whenever we discuss with teachers how would you like to teach students, sometimes they said lecture, and sometimes they said in groups. I am wondering why they do not say I love to teach in both ways in my maximum classes, not minimum. So Yes, I am going to talk about how we can plan our class with these two methodologies and how it will be fun for kids.
In lecture
Let's think about a math topic, it could be Fraction, algebra, Integers, or symmetry or any other topic.
So what we can do is we can just explain the topic first, Like what is symmetry, where do you see symmetry in your daily life, How many types of symmetry you see, and many more. It also depends on your syllabus and time.
In group:
Now what you can do is you can give some images or names and tell your kids to identify the types of symmetry and explain about it. You can also tell them to write the names of symmetry they see while coming to school or going home
Let's summarize 5 of the known benefits to group learning activities
- Reduces Anxiety: Takes the spotlight off the student
- Deeper Intrinsic Motivation: The inner drive to learn
- Deeper Understanding of Material: Thinking about the lesson in new ways.
- Individual Accountability: Students driving each other rather than peer pressure in a negative way.
- Proactive Collaboration: Students will want to learn and go to the school assembly.
So I would suggest do not focus only on one method to teach, to make your class more interactive try to include as many as you can. Thank you for reading.
