A Story of a Teacher Changemaker from Chhattisgarh
Noor Jahan teaches Hindi language to students of Class 1st to 3rd in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. She loves teaching underprivileged children as it provides an opportunity of upliftment to them. | Let’s get to know her more and her experiences of teaching younger students. |
What motivated you to become a teacher? I used to see children doing child labour in my community. Since that day, I decided to try my best to give a good education to each child. I try my best to teach students through games as it helps them retain complex information and have fun while studying. |
How were you introduced to Gurushala? I was introduced to Gurushala through World Vision India training. Gurushala offers a lot of useful sections for teachers and students. I regularly use Gurushala’s Content Library to share engaging content, games and infographics with my students. Regular online training of Gurushala on various strategies and technical softwares has helped me a lot in my teaching especially for the past one year. I remember participating in a very interactive online discussion on engaging students in sports and photography. I thoroughly enjoyed it. |
How do you teach younger students through online mode?
As we all know, teaching younger students through online means has been challenging. So, I send them interactive Teaching-Learning Material and share some follow up questions along with it. I also advise parents to accompany students in online classes to ensure classes are being attended with discipline and seriousness.
How do you wish to bring change in society? I think 21st Century teachers are very smart and they know how to contribute to society. I try my best to give a good education to each and every child to bring some change. I also request all parents of our country to not let their children do childlabour, instead they should educate them. |
According to Census 2011, the number of child labourers in India is 10.1 million. If teachers like Jahan are making a difference even for one child, then we can only imagine what would happen if all teachers think and act like this. Stay connected to Gurushala and we will keep bringing you stories from the ground!
