Experiences of a Seven Year Old Storylover from Firozabad
Akanksha Verma is a secondary school teacher in a district of Uttar Pradesh. She loves to teach Science and Mathematics and has always been proud to be a teacher. She believes in teaching in such ways that students’ overall development is also being looked at. She uses a mixed approach of teaching where she teaches through a lecture method incorporating relevant images and videos in the classes. In order to assess students’ understanding, she shares practice questions and group activities with students. Teaching through games and practical examples, she tries her best to make concepts engaging and easy for her students.
What motivated you to become a teacher?
I have been in the teaching profession for the past 5 years. Teaching profession is a genuine profession because teachers build the future of children.
What do you love the most about teaching?
To remember our childhood memories and connect with all children is something that I love the most about teaching.
When and how were you introduced to Gurushala?
I was introduced to Gurushala in August 2019 through a Gurushala team member. Gurushala has helped me by sharing courses for teachers, content resources and motivational stories of teachers.

What is your best memory so far as a teacher? I can recall my days when I had first started as a teacher. One day, a student of class 8th came up to me during the last period and said, “Ma’am, now I have started to like Mathematics as you explain concepts in a very easy manner.” This was the first student in my life and now I can only think how big a difference he has made in my life. This made me feel so proud about my profession that I was able to give something of value to my students. |

How has Gurushala helped you in your journey as a teacher?
Amongst the many offerings of Gurushala, the Courses section offers suggestions that teachers can incorporate in their classrooms while facing challenges. One course that has helped me a lot is that of Pedagogies of Mathematics. The course even shows how the suggested method will help the students. I also like Gurushala’s Content library as there are diverse kinds of resources available such as PPTs, concept videos, worksheets etc.
