When we were children, there was a regular saying- ‘Enjoy life while your are with your grandparents, enjoy studies while you are with your parents and enjoy responsibilities while you are with your organization (may be office/business/home/anything)’. How many of us have really travelled this path (note that the basic static keyword here is ENJOY). What’s the relevance of this word today-recreation or entertainment or special days/occasions. Have we ever thought that ‘to enjoy’ can be a super serious business in life in all the activities that we perform.

All these simple questions take me to one trivial yet consequential question- Are we leading ourselves to a life where well-being of mankind, well-being of nature, well-being of our mother earth is taken care of?

The true answer is –‘not really’. Agree to agree with me? What did we lack in the whole process of our evolution, in the whole journey of civilization, in the whole arena of education; what did we lack? All of you might have felt this but rarely dared to act on the need to realize our existential reality at the first place. You might agree to disagree or disagree to agree-the basic agenda is to address the evolutionary wholesome development that nature expected of us. Global literacy rate has been noted 86%, as per 2015-16 data. India is also catching up with this bar at almost 80%, as per latest data by NSO. Could we answer ourselves where is this 80% or 86% education taking us, we should not have flown with a Mach speed in terms of development with these figures. But have we managed to develop beyond our mental boundaries.

We are living in the best times of this mankind since the times our life originated on this planet. We have belief in our universe. We pray and pay tribute to nature for the air we breathe in, the rain we quench our thirst with, the soil we grow food on, the fire that ignite our lives in numerous ways, the sky that paves way for all our explorations from deploying satellites to finding traces of life-elements on other planets. On top of all this, Science and technology with the support of internet and AI has left no boundaries uncrossed and no stones unturned. That’s indeed a miracle, no iota of doubt in that. All we are lacking is awareness to nurture this life that we are gifted with, only skilling does not lead long way.

Once we are conscious about the life we are living, about the choices we making each morning, about the responsibility we have for fellow mankind and mother nature; we enter into the real world of human development, that is guided by values and propagated by shared responsibility rather than being guided by responsibility and being propagated by individual values. The real advancement will penetrate to the last individual and the real suggestions will reach to the first individual only when we are conscious drivers of our own lives.
