Good quality education is the foundation of health and well-being for people to lead healthy and productive lives, they need the knowledge to prevent sickness and disease. Education is a catalyst for development and a health intervention it's own right..._Learning in health and wellbeing ensures that children and young people develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities, and attributes which they need for mental, emotional, social, and physical wellbeing now and in the future. Learning through health and wellbeing enables children and young_ people to LINKS BETWEEN EDUCATION AND HEALTH:                           


It has also been shown that higher levels of educational attainment are associated with better self-assessed health and physical functioning, and lower levels of morbidity and mortality. Health and well-being can be described as the absence of physical illness, disease, and mental distress. This is a negative definition of health and well-being. Health and well-being can be described as the achievement and maintenance of physical fitness and mental stability.


HEALTH AND WELLBEING IN SCHOOLS: We want all children and young people to be able to learn about health and well-being to ensure they acquire skills to live healthy, happy lives. Health and well-being isn't a single subject or class, but is organized into six areas: * mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being * planning for choices and changes * physical education * physical activity and sport * food and health * substance misuse * relationships, sexual health, and parenthood health and wellbeing are also about ensuring that pupils are able to make the most of their education opportunities regardless of their background of financial circumstances and through the promotion of attendance at school promoting


MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING IN YOUR SCHOOL:


Mental health is more than the absence of mental illness. Mental health is a state of well-being where people can meet their learning potential, cope with normal stresses, and are connected to the community and their friends:


WHY MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING IS PROMOTED IN SCHOOLS: For most people, mental health issues emerge when they are young----half of all mental disorders emerge by the time people are 14 years old and three quarters by 25 years old-the same period when most people are in education.


As well as increasing a person's opportunity and choices in life, promoting mental health and well-being as a core role in education helps students:

1) flourish in their education journey
2)build resilience against adversity
3) develop protective factors from mental ill-health
4) provide them with skills and confidence to self-seek help for early intervention


KEY FEATURES OF PROMOTING MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING IN SCHOOLS:
The whole of school approaches: A Whole school approach involves everyone (schools leaders, teachers, staff, and parents) to embed a safe and inclusive learning culture and environment including

1) providing school and emotional skills programs
2) providing timely support for those with additional needs
3) involving students and families in decision-making resilience


BUILDING For STUDENTS: Resilience is the ability to cope and thrive in the face of negative events, challenges, or adversity. It is a skill that can be developed through

1) positive social connections
2) safe environments
3) life skills such as positive coping and problem-solving skills
4)pro-social values
5) positive self-regard
6) and a sense of purpose and agency or responsibility


Building staff capacity to promote and protect mental health. When you lack good health everything else in life suffers b.it's harder to concentrate and study. Illnes can cause you to fall behind in coursework. stress can make you feel overwhelmed. If you want to do well in all areas of your life, you must make your health a priority.
