In a world controlled by technology, it is no surprise that every other kid today is enchanted by the appeal of iPhones and PlayStations. Our children can no longer imagine spending their pastimes doing anything but peering into their gadgets and squandering hours playing meaningless games. As a result, activities like reading books have been rendered obsolete. To introduce the habit of reading, the need of the hour is to draw our kids away from the addictive world of phones and towards the illuminating pages of books. When adults try to do this, most discover that their children don't find books enjoyable and call them boring. The easiest way to attract children to books is by encouraging them to read what they like. A child that loves ghost stories will not be tempted to pick up a book on princesses and fairies. Recognizing the child's penchant always helps to know what kind of books will attract them the most. By doing this, children will feel excited about the possibility of finding something they admire in books and will pick them up with more zeal.

It is well known that children learn by observing adults. If our kids see us spending a large portion of our day using mobile phones, they will begin to regard it as normal and will try to do the same as they grow up. Studies have shown that children who grow up in environments where books are frequently read and discussed are more likely to pick up the habit of reading from an early age. Therefore, if we want to make reading a part of our child's daily life, it is necessary that we try to make it a part of our life too. Another thing to keep in mind while trying to generate a child's interest in reading is that it is necessary to choose books for them that employ an easy vocabulary. Even adults get frustrated when books are wordy and difficult to read, so it is only rational that a child will avoid reading if the books provided to them are beyond their understanding. If our kids don't understand what's written, they will never feel excited about reaching from one page to another.

Taking kids to the library or the bookstore every now and then also helps in piquing their curiosity and making them feel intrigued about the world of books. These places help our kids to not only browse through the variety of books available and choose the best for them but also stimulate their fascination with stories of unique and different kinds. Reducing the duration of screen time permitted to our kids and not allowing them to waste their free hours watching TV is another way through which we can pull our kids away from the luring grasp of technology. Through this, our kids will be compelled to look for ways to alleviate boredom. As a result, they'll be more likely to pick up books and dive into the universe of vibrant stories. Further, creating a small library in your own home and reserving some quiet spaces for reading will ensure that books find a permanent place in your busy everyday life and aren't forgotten.

It is crucial to cultivate reading habits in kids as it helps to stir their imagination and enrich their thought processes. If we work on developing the love for books in children from an early age, we can ensure that our kids keep learning important lessons through stories and learn to articulate as well. By doing this, eventually reading will become a medium for mindful growth for our children and benefit them in countless different ways.
