The ability to communicate well is one of the most useful and beneficial skills in life. It is through communication that societies develop and learn to live with cooperation and harmony. Communication is one of the indicators of a civilized society. Only people who can communicate properly can develop and progress collectively. Although people aren't born with this skill, over time, they can learn how to communicate with others fluently through guidance and education. It is important that we impart this skill to children during their initial years so that they can optimize it and use it while they learn to express themselves effectively in front of people.

Some of the important communication skills that need to be taught to children are very simple. To make their speech lucid, we need to teach our kids to speak clearly and not in a hurried way. They should use correct pronunciation and speak in a moderate tone. Further, they need to make eye contact with the person they're talking to while they speak. This gesture shows that the speaker respects their audience and is attentive to them. Looking at different directions during a conversation attests to the lack of respect and attention which doesn't create a good image of the speaker. Parents should teach their kids communication etiquette which includes not speaking over someone else, listening to what's being said before responding, facing the person who is speaking, being polite, and avoiding negative expressions. It is important that our children learn how to listen properly so they can respond in an informed and intelligent way. They need to be taught that listening is an essential part of every conversation and it is good listeners who make good speakers. No communication can be effective unless and until all the participants pay attention to what others are saying.

To bolster a child's communication skills, the easiest way is to communicate with them in the way we want them to communicate with others. Since children are conditioned to observe and imitate adults, if we practice our communication skills in front of them, it is very likely that they will learn and obtain these skills from us. Regular, patient, and polite communication with our children will help us to connect with them and allow us to understand their needs and problems. When talking to children we need to ensure that we're making eye contact and not correcting them in every sentence. We need to respect what our children say and allow them the time to articulate too. If we keep interrupting them while they try to speak, It'll be likely that they'll start doing it too.

There are several fun activities through which we can teach useful communication skills to our children. By involving our kids in pleasure activities like storytelling, extempore, poetry recitation, etc, we can ensure that our children learn to make effective use of their speaking and listening skills. Moreover, encouraging kids to read is another way to enhance their speech and expand their vocabulary. Communication skills are significant to every field in life. They benefit people in innumerable ways and make life easier for everyone. Therefore, It is necessary that we teach our kids these skills from an early age so that they can also communicate without problem.
